From 1st August 2012 the interest free loans for renewable heating systems have increased to a maximum of £10,000 under the home renewables loan scheme offered by Energy Saving Scotland.
Interest free loans for renewable electricity systems remain at a maximum of £2,000 under the home renewables loan scheme but as a homeowner you should also contact your local Energy Savings Scotland advice centre on 0800 512 012 to ask if there are any other financial incentives available under local area based schemes.
Please remember that if you’re interested in renewable heating systems you can combine both the Scottish Government interest free renewables loan and the UK Government’s RHPP2 grant (also available via EST) so long as funding from both does not exceed 100% of the cost of the system. If you’re interested in renewable electricity systems, you can apply for both the interest free home renewables loan and FITs.
Please note that we have no details yet about the domestic RHI scheme and await the consultation document from DECC.
